Catalina is Hollywood's famous and historic “Island to The Stars”. It is where Charlie Chaplin, D.W. Griffith and Cecil B. DeMille all screened the first “talkie” films in the world’s first movie theatre, built for sound (the Avalon Theatre, a 1,184-seat Art Deco movie palace).

Many names in the entertainment business vacationed, filmed, or lived on Catalina over the last century like Carey Grant, John Barrymore, Errol Flynn, Jayne Mansfield, Mickey Rooney, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, John Wayne and so many more.

Past industry award winners at the Catalina Film Festival include stars such as Stan Lee, Sharon Stone, Tony Scott, Kate Bosworth, Patricia Tiffany Arquette, William H. Macy, Andy Garcia, Nicholas Cage, Kristin Davis, Richard Dryfuss and Mira Sorvino to name a few.
